When Lightning Strikes

After a long and stressful day, I was trying to recuperate (in the process); and contemplate on how my day was spent (what I do every night before going to bed). I had eaten and just taken a shower. The time was 11:20 pm [Thursday, 26th October], to be exact. Then all of  a sudden, I heard a deafening sound; a very thunderous one. I was a bit scared to be frank. Then I saw the [palm] tree opposite where I reside lit up. It was something I had never seen before - all I could see was fire. As though someone set the tree ablaze. But no, it was nature at work.

I had heard stories in the past of houses, trees and yeah, people getting struck by lightning. The myths and all (never witnessed or gotten a close experience).

While everyone with mouth agape (short for words to say a thing), and of course, wondering what to do next, the rain began. It sure would have been a disaster if MotherNature didn't have a "rethink", and intervened right on time. She obviously must have been pissed-off by something. I guess she's not happy about the current situation in Nigeria at the moment, too.

All is well now, no casualties recorded. The tree is left unharmed. As you can see in the picture below:

Hopefully, it'll grow into its robust self again.

  1. Wow how scary!! We don't get many lightening/thunder storms in Norway and I slightly miss them but glad you're safe :)
